Martin Wolfie Adams suffers 'longest eight months of my life' as the darts hero battles prosta
DARTS hero Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams has endured the “longest eight months of my life” as he battles prostate cancer.
The popular three-time world BDO champ was diagnosed in April.

Some 20 sessions of radiotherapy at a hospital in Peterborough have since followed.
And on Friday, Adams, 60, will get results showing whether the cancer has spread or if he is on the road to recovery.
He said: “The C-word sends a chill up the spine.
“When you are diagnosed, the doctors paint the blackest picture they can create. You have the option of an operation or radiotherapy.
“I’m hoping to hear next week them say ‘You have done very well, Mr Adams, we hope to see you in three months’ time.’
“What you don’t want to hear is ‘I think you might have a problem.’
“It’s been difficult at times to control emotions.

“It has been the longest eight months of my life. But you have to remain positive. Treatments have improved so much.”
Adams credits his sons Darren and Warren and partner Leigh Martin, for their support.
But he added: “Leigh has been through skin cancer. So we had just got over that when I started.
“It’s a bit of a relentless cycle. But we will get through it. It is tough going.
“At other times it gets easier. But you still have to live your life.”

Adams will get a hero’s welcome when he faces Michael van Gerwen on the first day of the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
This TV major, devised in a round-robin format, is unique in that it brings together PDC and BDO players — the two dividing divisions of darts.
Van Gerwen, 27, is in sensational form but Adams will not be intimidated by the all-conquering world No1.

He said: “Michael is dominating the PDC.
“But he plays with three darts in his hands. Not four. If people think I am going to roll over and die on the stage, forget it. I ain’t.
“Maybe it’s my turn to come out on top against Michael. You never know.”
