Winn-Dixie confirms store hours will change for just one day in a few weeks and shoppers need to mak

IN just a few weeks, Americans will be sitting down to enjoy turkey day.

Many stores across the country are letting shoppers know now they may need to make alternative plans when it comes to picking up last minute items for Thanksgiving.

Winn-Dixie has made the decision that its supermarkets will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The temporary pause will allow its employees to spend the day with family and friends.

Winn-Dixie has more than 500 stores across five states, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Winn-Dixie told The U.S. Sun that "all stores will close at normal closing time Wednesday, Nov. 22 and reopen for regular business hours Friday, Nov. 24."

HOLIDAY HOURS

Big box retailer, Target, is keeping its stores closed on turkey day.

CEO Brian Cornell said in a press release, "Several times, I heard how thankful they were that our stores would once again be closed on Thanksgiving."

Meanwhile, all Walmart stores will be closed.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the big box store will remain closed on Thanksgiving.

Other closing retailers have also made the decision to not open on Thanksgiving.

TJ Maxx and its other brands like Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and Homesense will be closed the entire day on Thanksgiving.

Then, stores like Gap, will be kicking off Black Friday on Thursday by opening at 6 pm until 1 am, but best to check with your location.

Most Old Navy stores will stay closed on Thanksgiving but depending on where you live, you may be able to stop in.

Supermarkets, such as Albertsons, will be changing hours for one day.

It will be a shorter day, as most stores will be open from 6 am to 3 pm.

Kroger has also made the decision to stay open.

Whole Foods, Ralph's and Harris Teeter will also be operating on reduced hours.
